REGENCY HOSPITAL COMPANY POISED TO HELP ITS OWN AND OTHER HURRICANE VICTIMS

Alpharetta, Georgia, September 2, 2005 --- Atlanta based, Regency Hospital Company had three hospitals in the path of this week?s storm, Hurricane Katrina: Regency Hospital of Covington located in Louisiana, Regency Hospital of Hattiesburg in Mississippi and Regency Hospital of Meridian also in Mississippi.

Regency evacuated its patients from Regency Hospital of Covington to another local hospital and has since transferred them due to loss of generated power and supplies. Regency Hospital of Hattiesburg and Meridian have maintained operations through less than adequate conditions. "We have nurses and staff who are true heroes here", said Steve Laughlin, CEO of Regency Hospital of Hattiesburg. "They have worked around the clock without once lamenting their own personal situation, sometimes not even knowing the status of their own family members. They have put the needs of their patients first," he continued. But that is not all, Regency has been a source for community strength and resource as even its corporate office and its hospital employees across the country have rallied together to give funds, offer prayers and volunteer to help in any way possible.

Late Wednesday evening after Atlanta corporate employees had gone home for the day, an email requesting immediate help was sent to all corporate employees for help with supplies. Apparently, one of the Regency Hospital of Greenville (SC) nurses was taking a trailer to help his parents stranded in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Less than 12 hours later Regency corporate employees had divided into teams scouring North Atlanta for supplies. They brought back more water and supplies than imaginable to take to the Regency Hospitals needing help. The trailer from Greenville was full before it reached the corporate office due to a large amount of donations given by the Regency Hospital of Greenville hospital site. Two employees from the corporate office went out and rented a larger truck to hold all the donations. Over 40 corporate employees came to load the supplies on to the truck. "People were pulling cash out of their pockets (even though they had already spent their own money on supplies) to give to the driver for gas and food. The outpouring of compassion and commitment for fellow Regency employees has been humbling," said Rod Laughlin, President & CEO of Regency Hospital Company. "Our people based in Atlanta and truly all our hospital locations throughout the country feel helpless. We can only pray and give money and that is what they have done and continue to do. The power of our people has been amazing," he continued.

Regency Hospital Company is so committed to helping its employees that it created the Regency Cares Foundation, a nonprofit organization to help those Regency employees and others affected by Hurricane Katrina. "We want to let the people of Louisiana and Mississippi know that we love and support them. That is what the Regency Cares Foundation is all about", said Laughlin.
