Regency Cares Foundation
Regency Hospital helping employees and others affected by Hurricane Katrina Make a Donation today to the victims of Hurricane Katrina

Kelly, please tell me the easiest way I can thank all of the people that have helped me. I got a check today from the foundation and I want everyone to know how much it is appreciated and will be used to start putting our lives back together. The employees from every part of the country have contributed something and I want them to know Lee and I will be good stewards of what they have sacrificed and given out of love, care and generosity. I promise to live up to their expectations and do a good job for the company. Just saying thank you seems so inadequate when the gifts mean so much.

How do you say thank you? The words are so simple. I wish you could feel the gratitude in my heart. My heart has been broken by my loss but Regency Company is helping to mend it. You are giving me my life back May God bless each and every one of you.

"And when you have done this to the least of my brothers you have done it unto Me."

Director of Quality management - Regency Hospital of Covington

I want to take this time to thank you personally for all you have done. The day after the storm I assumed Regency Hospital Covington had been wiped off the face of the earth. Our ceiling always leaked in several spots on just regular rainy afternoons. (Ha.) I stressed over would I have a job, what was I going to do, what was next. When I was able to make my way down to Covington about a week later and saw the note on the door signed by George Bruton that we had jobs, and was still going to be paid our standard rate, I sat in the parking lot crying. I am proud to be a Regency Hospital Company employee. Thank you for standing by us in our time of need. You are remarkable.

Just got blackberry service so I am better. This has been an awesome teambuilding experience this week in Hattiesburg. A core group of Regency Heroes have worked for several days without a break and never once made a sound about their personal losses or lamented the fact of not knowing about relatives, friends or property. When the pts were safe they took a break to check on their homes and relatives and got right back to work.

Hello. It was truly a pleasure to transport goods from Atlanta corporate to Hattiesburg. You would have been proud on the outburst of help, donations, and commitment of your staff to arrange this to happen in such a short time. There were so many thanks given from the Hattiesburg Hospital when I delivered the truck (full) of supplies. That great feeling of helping and thanks you get from people in need is what life is all about. I'm making another trip down Friday, so if you need me for (anything) please let me know.

Over the past four days, my appreciation for Regency and its outstanding employees has grown by leaps and bounds. While sometimes we talk about our Regency "family" without giving it much thought, the true meaning of family has been demonstrated time and time again in the past week by the amazing and caring employees of Regency. Some of the hospital employees have been working for days at a stretch with very little sleep, food, and water. These hospital employees are some of the true heroes of this disaster. While I have worked for world class companies in the past, I have never been more proud of a company and its employees as I am of Regency.

The spirit and dedication of our nurses and staff in our hospitals in Hurricane Katrina's path have not been dampened by the poor conditions. In spite of the obvious heat due to the lack of air conditioning and lack of safe running water, the clinical staff in Hattiesburg remains dedicated to the same level of patient care as before the hurricane. I wish you could see their smiling faces and hear the kind words that they have for those of you who have sent supplies and money to bless them. This is an example of the true meaning of "family".

Over the past few days, I have heard comments from some of our employees like "I want to work for Regency for the rest of my life because they are the best company I have ever worked for." and "Regency is the only company really showing how they care for their employees." When you hear things like this, it makes you realize that Regency is more than just a healthcare company with outstanding patient care and superior financial results; Regency is a unique company, actively countering cynicism of the public toward large healthcare companies.

It has been a great privilege to work with the Regency team this past week. Everyone displayed an incredible amount of camaraderie and concern for their fellow employees and Regency's patients. While the situation was certainly difficult, it was very impressive to see everyone pitching in. As a team, we accomplished many things unimaginable, and like a machine with hundreds of synchronized moving parts, we moved well coordinated to get the job done. Very few companies cultivate this kind of environment, and I am blessed to be a member of the team at Regency. I know that the past week has been tough on everyone, but I would like to extend a special thanks to the Hattiesburg hospital team. What I saw in Hattiesburg was a group of people focused on the needs of Regency's patients. I saw them working in the extreme heat with little water, food, and sleep. I know that many of them have been personally affected by the storm, but I saw them put aside their own needs and focus on the needs of those dependent on them. It was a wonderful example of what it means to be true Americans and go beyond expectations in being employees true the Regency vision. Finally, while I hope we would never need to work in a situation like this again, it is with great respect for the people that I work with that I am able to say that I know that we will all be willing and ready to help if the need arises.
